This convention is being held from July 30th - August 1st in Coralville, Iowa. Same place as last year.

So for those of you who would rather skip Otakon to visit the ~*fabulous*~ state of Iowa, post here. Be sure to include list of costumes and yadda yadda yadda.

I'll be there as usual. Because I'm way too poor to go to Otakon instead. Probably doing William from Kuroshitsuji and Megumi from Ruroni Kenshin.

I'll be there, per always. :) I'll be bringing series version Kenshin, Rhode Kamelot from D. Gray-man, Sebastian Michaelis from Kuroshitsuji (though will probably only wear it for masquerade and crack photos), and the Poe Dealer from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

I'll most likely be bringing Rider from Fate/Stay Night, Kuroudo Akabane from Getbackers, and maybe Shiratori from Stellar Theater. Hope to see you guys there!

Although Iowa isn't all that fabulous I'll be going since I'm poor(even though I'm starting to despise some of the people going)and I'll be going as Miku Hatsune (again...beat me with a stick) and Xion from Kingdom Hearts and my friend, who's right next to me is going to be Tsunade.

Was it just me or was the cosplay worse than usual?

Like, in general? Or in the masq? If it's the former, I was too distracted to notice most of the time, though some particularly bad ones stood out. If it's the latter, I take offense to that./sarcasm

I was talking in general. I thought the ones in the masq. were okay and some were awsome except for the Alois Trancy and the skit with the four girls singing and dancing.

Truth. Random dancing skits need to die, forever. This ain't your middle school talent show.

I can understand if dancing happens in the source material. Actual Haruhi Suzumiya cosplayers doing Hare Hare Yukai makes sense, even if it's old as the hills. Lucky Star cheerleaders, sure. A Claude from Kuro II tapdancing, I could roll with.

Even if it's not canon, and you dance in a way that expresses something about the character, to relevant music - sure. My friend tap-danced through her poses to Puttin' On The Ritz with a top-hat and cane while cosplaying Ciel. That worked.

But it sucks when it's clear that someone just wanted to go up and dance, and the cosplay is like an afterthought. The girls who sang and danced. Or the Allen Walker who danced to that High School Musical song... she was a GREAT dancer. But it still made no goddamn sense. Last year like two or three people danced to Single Ladies for no good reason. The year before it was Sexy Back. That kind of shit is why skits should be screened. :T

Speaking of screening, how was that 2+ HOURS OF NOTHING out in the audience while the judges got sorted out? 'Cause we were lovin' it in the green room!

@MaliciousLibel: From what I understand the girls were supposed to be the charas from Shugo Chara, but their cosplays were very inaccurate and they fan dubbed the original song, it was stupid idea in my opinion and no one cared because it was just fail. I agree, if it's like the Haruhi cosplayers, or the Lucky Star cheerleaders, but otherwise it shouldn't be done.

Aw man, I was only there for an hour of nothing, I regret not staying for more!(sarcasm) My dad was getting pissed that I hadn't called him yet and I had to leave since I couldn't get signal in that room.

going a bit off topic; You know that awesome Ceil from last year?! She was awesome, ever since my friends and I saw her skit we've been hocked on Puttin' On The Ritz, but now I regret not getting her picture and maybe saying hi, but I was to shy. >.<

Yeah, that Ciel was staying in the room with ML, shin-ta and I. She was the 3rd arc Allen who juggled and balanced things on her head this year.
