Just in case the title wasn't clear, there's going to be SPOILERS. I'm going to make this first post spoiler free but after that, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

There's also going to be a SPOILER FREE review of MGS4 on the Cosfu front page shortly.

Here's some handy links to fill up this first post.

Metal Gear Collection - Metal Gear 1-3 in one convenient little package.
Metal Gear Solid 4 - In case you're reading this thread and don't own it??
Gametrailers MGS Retrospective - In case you don't want to play 1-3 but want to know the ridiculous story of the previous games.

I usually don't trust most reviewers now-a-days with all the advertising and money scandals...so keep that in mind while reading this...I'm a gamer, also a MG fan (been ever since the NES days...although those games were pretty "meh") so this is a review of the game from a gamer stand point and not some corporate bullshit.

Presentation - 10

This gets a perfect 10 from me. Never have I been so engrossed in a game. You literally feel everything in this game. The pain Snake must endure, the intensity from the fights/battles, the emotion (holy shit the ending..."Snake has had...a hard life..." Get ready to bawl your fucking eyes out), the scenario of every different battlefield, the nostalgia...everything feels perfect (only gripe is a few of the textures (grass, walls, etc...), and the cop out cut-scenes where they switch back and forth between in game graphics and pre-rendered...but even then, they still look amazing).

Graphics - 10

Easily the best looking game of all time to date. Everything is painstakingly detailed and beautiful. Also, cut-scenes...amazing.

Audio - 10

"Old Snake" and "Love Theme" alone warrant a 10 in this catagory. When listening to the soundtrack alone can bring back memories from playing the game...when you can remember where exactly you hear a certain song in the game...that's a level of perfection that most games never seem to reach. (PS, if you didn't buy the collectors edition, download the OST...it's incredible)

Gameplay - 10

This is the only part of the game that I think could possibly be improved a bit. The aiming system is kinda wonky at first, but you'll get used to it quickly. Make sure to set your sensitivity to the right setting, as the default is SLOW. Like I said, it might take a bit to get used to the aiming system, but it might be me and being used to playing GTA4.

Also, another nag about it is the Raging Raven fight, which, to me, was terrible. Extremely easy, and the worst of all the B&B...but Big Momma TOTALLY saves Act 3...amazing (the pre-bike chase scene...the bike chase scene...absolute perfection.

Replayability - 10

Completely engaging story, endless eater eggs and bonuses, unlockables, 4 different difficulties...and did I mention is also has MGO (which I haven't even touched yet...)

This game has A LOT to it, and is every MG fans wet dream come true. Story goes a little off the wall at the end, but it makes total closure to basically everything that was ever left unfinished.

The game is a true masterpiece, and for me to give it anything less than a perfect score...well I can't do it. Like I said, I've been a gamer ever since the Atari 7800, and this is one of the best, if not the best game I have ever played.

Buy a PS3. I don't give a fuck if you're a fanboy or not...missing out on this game would be one of the biggest...sins you could ever do as a "gamer".

I think 4ng31 pretty much said everything there is to say about the game as a whole, so I'm not going to even bother. Except perhaps to add that I'm torn as to whether auto-aim cheapens the experience or if it actually makes it better. Your thoughts?

Me, I'm really liking all the little extras. The iPod, the flashbacks -- all good with me. Being in an intense firefight while playing the shojo-tastic song by Two Han Princess (?) is fun. The Integral podcast is silly, but I hope they do deliver on content in the future (FOR FREE, OK, KONAMI? THIS MGO CHARACTER SLOT BS IS BS.) Also, has anyone figured out what Ryan Payton was talking about when he said there was a "surprise" waiting for everyone? I read it on Kotaku a week or so before launch. *shrugs*

Also, the manual is full of mistakes, it would seem. I can't seem to "drop" items, and for some reason I can't pat down people I hold up.

I just put up my review, in case you guys want to read it. It covers my problems with the game and praises it in some ways as well.

http://www.cosfu.net...ear4review.html

Since I wasn't writing any spoilers, I'll write a bit more here.

Gonna have to second 4ng31 that the Raving Raven fight was shit. It was extra shit when my controller died and I was getting bashed by her, because MGS4, unlike every other PS3 game, does not pause the game when your battery died. GREAT.

The 32bit flashback on Shadow Moses was hilarious, I loved that bit. Shadow Moses in general was a very cool area, it was great to visit it again and the Rex fight was fun.

Christ this game rocked my socks off. When the shadow moses thing started up I was like frozen because I could not for the life of me remember how to play it and where the hell I was supposed to go. It was awesome.

I confess I thought about it mostly because my senses were assaulted by 32 bit. *L* It was like "OMG OLDSKOOLPANIK!!!eleventyone!" As for the Big mama motorcycle chase scene, I had to die on purpose just so I could do it again, it was fucking awesome to watch. The first time my kid was trying to help "daddy shoot that one! up above HES RIGHT THERE!" She doesn't get metal gear but she loves watching me play.

{edit} also anyone know the significance of sunny singing numbers at the very beginning of act 1?

GOTY.

Seriously, I FUCKING CRIED when Big Boss came back and basically forgave snake for killing him several times over. Act 5 is pretty ridiculous, and during the entire game I had my DS3 hooked up via usb so it never died, so i never got to know that. The only major flaw with this game is the goddamn loading screens. But everything was PERFECT. Gameplay, graphics(It was gorgeous at 720p, it must be even better at 1080p), audio, music, extras... I just wish you could use your iPod seperate from the rest of your items but oh well. It's the ps3's, nay, this entire generation's first real must-own IMO. Then again I was one of the few fags who preordered MGS3, so take my word for what it's worth.

Yah the loading screens were a bit of suck, and I think I smoked two packs of cigs everytime I picked the game up (put trash in its place!) also, yes, it WAS gorgeous in 1080p. I seriously had flashbacks during the market scenes at the beginning it was creepy. Could almost smell the alkaline in the streets.
